False advertising?

A new Walmart advertisement is coming under fire from an advertising industry regulation group for falsely implying that workers at the retail giant make a living wage.

The U.S.-based National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (NAD) has announced that has referred the Walmart advertisement to the United States Federal Trade Commission, after Walmart refused to participate in a NAD review and for what the council is saying is misleading

In the 30-second ad, a narrator says "a raise in pay raises us all" accompanied by images of warming family moments. "We're investing over $1 billion this year in higher wages, education and training," says text that follows.

The full ad can be seen below.

Walmart has no current plans to bring pay increases to Canada anytime soon, even with the sinking Canadian dollar.
