Walmart workers in Chile achieve historic agreement

Walmart workers in Chile have achieved a historic new collective agreement, the first of its kind in the history of the company.

More than 15,000 workers were unified in the single collective agreement between the SIL (Sindicato Interempresa Lider) union and Walmart, under its five Chilean banner stores (Hiper, Express, Acuenta, Ekono and Central Mayorista). Under the historic agreement, workers were able to achieve improved benefits for workers at Walmart Chile's most vulnerable brands.

Although there are currently no unionized Walmart stores in Canada, UFCW Canada is the only union to have successfully organized Walmart workers in Canada. For more information on UFCW Canada, visit their website www.ufcw.ca.
