Brazil: First Ever Strike against Walmart

Local unions in Brazil have organized a Walmart store strike in Limeira, a town about two hours drive from Sao Paolo on the motorway and set up a picket line outside the store which forced the company to remain shut from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. According to the unions this was the first Walmart store strike in Brazil.

Walmart Continues To Be The Worst, Fires Employee For Saving Dog

Hermiston, OR – February 1, 2013 – A Walmart employee in Hermiston, Oregon, was fired after she attempted to save a starving dog that had wandered into the superstore. The dog was seen wandering around the store in an obviously malnourished state.

Ottawa – January 30, 2013 – Corporate executives in Canada will be dancing in their suites to celebrate Corporate Tax Freedom Day on January 30. A research study by the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) – called What did Corporate Tax cuts Deliver? – shows that by that date corporations will have paid their taxes to all levels of government for the entire year.
